Sheet Metal Fabricator - 2nd Shift

Summary: Sets up and operates fabrication equipment including shear, turret punch, brake press and panel bender.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: 

  • Analyzes work orders, work piece, and blueprints to determine process, materials, machines, tooling; and sequence of operation.
  • Set up and modify computer programs and operate brake press, panel bender and turret punch press.
  • Set up and operate shear.
  • Other machining operations may be assigned including but not limited to: Power saws, drill presses, milling machines, single station punch and pedestal grinders.
  • Inspects finished pieces visually and using precision measuring devices.

Computer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, and individual should have knowledge of manufacturing software.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

Lift equipment certification is beneficial but not required.

Education and/or Experience:

One to three years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of eductation and experience.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to co-workers and management.

Mathematical Skills:

Requires the use of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of decimals and fractions; work from drawings, specification and formulas involving limited detail, use and interpret adjustable measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers and scales as required.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to work independently, solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to coach and train employees in job responsibilities. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be detail oriented, as well as, thorough.

Other Skills and Abilities:

Working experience with power and hand tools a must; read and interpret blueprints and assembly drawings; use tape measure and electrical testing devises.
