Chief Financial Officer

Under the supervision of and reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Chief Financial Officer directs the financial activities of the organization by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  1. Establishes, or recommends to management, major economic objectives and policies for company.
  2. Responsible for overseeing all Accounting functions including AP, AR, PR, GL, and Costing.
  3. Responsible for monthly Financial Statements preparation and analysis.
  4. Responsible for overseeing banking relationships.
  5. Prepares reports which summarize and forecast company business activity and financial position in areas of income, expenses, and earnings based on past, present, and expected operations.
  6. Responsible for annual planning and budgets.
  7. Responsible for insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
  8. Responsible for overseeing CPA firm annual financial review and their preparation of Federal and State tax returns.
  9. Supervise the accounting department to ensure the proper functioning, timeliness and results.
  10. Responsible for 401(k) Plan administration.
  11. Process Exempt Payroll.
  12. Assist with administration of Employee benefit plans including health insurance.
  13. Serve as a key member of the leadership team. Participate in decisions as they relate to strategic initiatives & operational results.
  14. Oversee cash balances and management of collections and payments.
  15. As Corporate Secretary, maintain stock records and ensure regulatory filings and reports.
  16. Directs determination of depreciation rates to apply to capital assets.
  17. Advises management on desirable operational adjustments due to tax code revisions.
  18. Prepares reports required by regulatory agencies.

Education and/or Experience:  

  • Requires education generally equivalent to a bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university with a major in accounting.
  • Ten years related experience in accounting.
  • Experience in supervising and managing workflow of an accounting department required.
  • Experience in a Manufacturing and a Job Cost environment needed.
  • Experience in a privately owned Company (Sub-S) environment preferred.
  • Experience with multi state sales tax requirements helpful.

Experience in a construction environment helpful with experience in contracts review, pay applications & draws, waivers, and online billing systems preferred.

Language Skills:  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Other Qualifications:  High computer literacy and proficiency with confidence and skill working with Microsoft Office and Payroll Software.
