Shipping& Receiving Coordinator

Summary: Fabricates wooden crates, packs products, load and unload trucks by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Calculate Weights and Dimensions for quoting purposes.
  • Daily scheduling of work assignments for both plants
  • Creating packing lists, bills of lading, export documents, etc.
  • Expedite communications
  • Arranging pick-ups
  • Scheduling new order ship dates
  • Receiving verification and paperwork
  • Dropship receipts and accounting notification
  • Coordination of external operations
  • Cross training
  • Standard work creation and use
  • Carrier communications (Inbound and outbound)
  • Customer coordination of deliveries
  • Export documentation and procedures (Primarily Canada)
  • Reads shipping notices, and other specifications, and inspects products to determine size and shape of container, materials to be used, and types of supports and braces to be used.
  • Layout dimensions on materials with ruler, measuring tape, and pencil. Saw and assembles materials to size. Builds crate around large or odd shaped articles.
  • Places products in containers using proper safety devices. Staples or secure cover on crate. When required, wraps and tightens metal bands around crate. Bolts heavy pieces to bottom of container or skid.
  • Attaches identification labels or stencils containing such information as shipping destination, weight, and type of product contained in crate. Moves crate to shipping area, moves lumber, paper, and other wrapping supplies to crating area. Loads trucks.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Forklift equipment certification required.

Education and/or Experience: At least five years of experience in a shipping administration position is required, this should include creating shipping paperwork, packing lists, and BOL’s. At least two years of experience creating export documentation. ERP & 3 PL software experience required. Web navigation is also required. Experience negotiating with suppliers is a plus. Logistics training is also a plus. Six months building experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Working experience with power and hand tools a must. Must be proficient in use of tape measure. High School diploma or equivalent is required.

Mathematical Skills: Requires the use of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of decimals and fractions, work from drawings, specification, and formulas involving limited detail, use and interpret adjustable measuring instruments such as tape measures.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions. Ability to work independently, solve practical problems, and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Must be detail orientated as well as thorough.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Hearing protection required.
