Supply Chain Coordinator

Summary: Under the direction of the Materials Manager, the Supply Chain Coordinator is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of supply chain strategy, including procuring controlled and job-specific materials, managing vendor relations, and driving inventory accuracy to support goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Use Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software to monitor and purchase materials.
  • Procure job-specific material and parts under the direction of engineering.
  • Perform regular maintenance of MRP parameter data.
  • Under the direction of the Materials Manager, maintain and develop vendor relationships and performance.
  • Administer cycle program to address root cause issues and drive accuracy.
  • Review incoming purchased receipts to assure on-time delivery from vendors.
  • Track and report scrap costs. Identify opportunities to reduce scrap expense.
  • Create parts labels for stock locations, bins, and storage racks. Learn software to create and print parts labels and maintain as needed.
  • Analyze, process, and coordinate ECN’s (Engineering Change Notice(s) impacting purchased parts.
  • Develop and maintain an ERP-based vendor Return Goods Authorization (RGA) process.
  • Regularly bid consumable, VMI, and MRO purchased goods.

Education and/or Experience: Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and four to six years of related experience, an associate degree and three to five years of related experience, or a bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university, in a related field of study, with one to two years of experience.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret purchasing-related documents such as catalogs, product-related literature, and technical books and/or manuals. Ability to prepare reports, purchase orders, and correspondence related to purchasing. Ability to communicate effectively with vendors and with other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written or oral form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.  Ability to identify problems and offer comprehensive, logical solutions using data and intuition.

Computer Skills:  To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Software, Spreadsheet software, Word Processing software, and email.  Relational table and Structured Query Language skills are a plus.

Other Qualifications: CPM or CPIM certification is a plus.
